PARTNERSHIP ASSOCIATES ANNOUNCE MARKET BASKET 2008 - A World Class Affair
Chattanooga, Tenn. – The Partnership Associates announce their 16th annual Market Basket dinner and auction, themed A World Class Affair. Market Basket will be held Saturday, February 2 at the Chattanoogan. Actor, athlete, author and child advocate Victor Rivers is speaking as this year’s special guest. Market Basket is one of Chattanooga’s signature social events, benefiting the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults’ 23 human services programs, each of which is dedicated to empowering people to build better lives.
The evening’s activities begin at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and the most spectacular silent auction in town. Market Basket is named for its unique display of auction items arranged in classy, themed baskets of items from around the world -- vacations, entertainment, food, fashion, sports, and more. The evening will continue with a seated dinner, a live auction featuring the gems of the world, and the dramatic personal story of Victor Rivers.
Mr. Rivers was a victim of horrific child abuse who, with the help of foster families and community members, went from being a homeless gang member to senior class president, lettering in four sports. Today, Rivers is a devoted husband and father, a veteran star of more than two dozen films, a cast member of the new NBC show Life, and the national spokesperson for National Network to End Domestic Violence. He has shared his remarkable story of survival and hope in his The New York Times bestseller, A Private Family Matter. The Partnership is thrilled to bring Mr. Rivers to Chattanooga to share his inspirational story and encourage our community to take a stand against domestic violence.
Tickets for A World Class Affair begin at $125 per person with patron tickets and corporate tables also available. Gala chair Julie Chirumbole and the entire Market Basket Committee promise a spectacular evening.
Since 1993, the annual benefit event has been held to raise money in support of the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults. Over the past fifteen years, the tremendous efforts and extraordinary accomplishments of the Partnership Associates have raised over $750,000 in support of the Partnership’s programs, which touch the lives of over 60,000 families, children and adults each year through shelter, counseling, advocacy and education.
Sponsorship opportunities and corporate tables for A World Class Affair are available at several levels. A packet outlining benefits and options (from $1,000 to $10,000) is available.
