The Partnership has a long history with United Way of Greater Chattanooga. Nine of our twenty programs receive support from the United Way, and as a result, thousands of individuals across the Greater Chattanooga have been empowered to build a better life. We are proud of our longstanding relationship with United Way and we appreciate the ongoing support of all United Way donors.
Which Programs Do United Way Donors Support at Partnership?
- Consumer Credit Counseling Services*
Providing comprehensive counseling services to prevent and correct consumer debt and poor finanical choices. United Way funding supports outreach and educational initiatives to build financial stability within our community. Services are free or reduced and available to all geographic areas.
- Emergency Shelter for Families
Providing crisis intervention and support to women with children who are homeless. Families receive short-term shelter, food, and help mapping out a plan for a stable future. The typical stay for a family is four to six weeks.
- Counseling Center*
Strengthens families and individuals by providing them with teh self-knowledge and awareness and coping and communication skills they need to solve problems that threaten to disrupt healthy functioning. United Way funding allows those without health insurance and financial ability to access services on a sliding fee scale, based on their income. Services are available to all geographic areas.
- Family Violence Center*
Provides a haven for domestic abuse victims. Program offers safe shelter, counseling, support groups, court advocacy and transitional housing for victims of physical and emotional abuse, and for their children.
- New Visions
Provides permanent housing for women who are chronically homeless and/or victims of domestic violence. The program assists the residents to achieve a stabilized work environment and referrs them to GED classes and career enhancing programs, which can lead to long term self-sufficiency.
- Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing*
Provides community interpretation for the deaf which enable them to break communication barriers in their daily activities. Also provides job placement services that include employment assessments, career planning, job training, and retention support. Services are mostly free and are available to all geographic locations.
- Elder Services
Home-based care and advocacy services allow seniors and adults with disabilities to avoid institutionalization and remain in their own homes. One such service is the Homemaker program. This program assists elderly and disabled persons with the tasks of daily living, to allow them to continue living independently. It provides in-home support ranging from housekeeping and grocery shopping to non-medical personal assistance. Clients meeting income guidelines receive services at no charge.
The Victims of Crime program for the elderly and disabled adults offers a special team of skilled case managers to provide advocacy, crisis intervention, and safety planning for victims of crime, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This program is offered at no cost to residents of Hamilton County. Autonomy and self-determination are core values in all Partnership programs; therefore, care plans are designed in collaboration with the client and family members and are reviewed regularly, in order to respond to evolving needs.

Partnership also facilitates the following collaborative initiatives:
Building Stable Lives - East Lake & Harriet Tubman
Partnership serves as lead agency for this United Way initiative, providing case management support to the most vulnerable in the East Lake and Harriet Tubman communities. Program aims to decrease the cycle of dependency by assisting families with their immediate needs and then linking them to support services to provide lasting stability.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy
This program serves pre-school children with behavior issues through play and parent education. The program is offered to children ages 2-7 and their parents and is available in both English and Spanish.
